Forever Home Canine Rescue often rescues dogs that are in desperate need of medical care. Many are fostered for several months before they can even be listed for adoption..Their veterinary care is expensive and we must rely on your generous donations to our Guardian Angel Fund to cover the costs.
Guided by the principle that every life is precious, Forever Home Canine Rescue is dedicated to finding loving and responsible forever homes for all the pets in our care. This includes getting the medical care and treatment for many pets who are sick or injured. Oftentimes this requires providing expensive and ongoing care for various illnesses and conditions, as well as months of treatment and follow-up care, prior to the pets being available for adoption.
Our "Special Needs Pets" suffer from an array of acute or chronic, yet treatable health conditions. From the time a pet enters our program, we provide all the care that is necessary to ensure that the pet's health is managed effectively. This specialized care is provided until the pet is well enough to be adopted into his forever home. Common ailments of our "Special Needs Pets" include heartworms, broken bones, bladder stones, skin conditions, separation anxiety, dental disease, heart conditions, eye problems, arthritis, seizure disorders, and more. We find that with proper medical treatment and plenty of TLC by the foster family, all the pets who enter our Guardian Angel Program can be rehabilitated and be adopted into their forever homes.
A special donation or sponsorship to help with some of these costs would mean a lot to one of our "Special Needs Pets"... and to Forever Home Canine Rescue. If you'd like to sponsor a specific pet, please e-mail us and let us know which one. We will send a card with their photo, and also let you know when they are healthy and have been adopted.
Maybe you'd like to help in another way. Do you have some free time? Would you be willing to foster a special dog and gain the satisfaction of nursing him/her back to health? Or maybe you are available to provide transportation to and from vet visits. These are all wonderful animals looking for a little extra help. If you'd like to help, please fill out and send us our Volunteer form. We'll then contact you to discuss how you'd like to help.
Can you help these pets by becoming their Guardian Angel?
Maya
|
Maya is an affectionate Cocker Spaniel with a beautiful, soft coat of buff and white. She is approximately seven years old. She has an extremely sweet personality and is loyal and obedient. Her gentle brown eyes are filled with love. She enjoys the company of the two other dogs in her foster home. Soon she will be ready to go to her forever home...
However, a couple of months ago, her future did not look so bright. Maya was found abandoned by the side of the road; a tangled, matted mess, swollen from being hit, possibly by a car... and heartworm positive. She was fortunate to be found by a Good Samaritan and placed into Rescue. Her bruises have now healed, she has received all her vaccinations, and she has started her heartworm treatments... which are extremely costly. She also suffers from luxating patellas, where her knee caps don't stay in place. Fortunately, she is only a grade 2, so she may not need surgery to correct this condition. But if she does, hopefully with enough generous donors, we will be able to afford the surgery so Maya will be able to lead a healthy, pain-free, and happy life.

Simon

Simon is a handsome 4-year-old, honey-colored Cocker Spaniel who came into Rescue from an Animal Control Shelter. He was not able to be put up for adoption at Animal Control because of his horrible condition. Simon's coat was so long and matted that he had to be shaved... almost to his bare skin. Then we discovered he had bare patches all over his body from yeast and bacterial infections. He also had painful ear infections that had to be treated immediately. With diligent work from Simon's veterinarian and foster mom, Simon is finally getting to be the beautiful Cocker Spaniel he was meant to be. He receives baths twice a week with a special (and expensive) shampoo, and takes medication to help clear up the infections. With daily cleaning and medicating his ears are now healing, and he seems to be pain-free. Simon is a wonderful boy... and is now healthy enough to be available for adoption because of generous donations to help with is extra medical expenses.
