Schnauzer - Terrier - Young - Male
Adoptable Medium housetrained

Meet Rusty… an adorable, 2 1/2-year-old, 23-lb., Schnauzer mix who is ready to find his forever home.

Rusty is a very sweet and loving boy, but is also quite shy and timid at first. He rides well in the car, and has yet to learn how to walk well on a leash. His foster mom is working on helping him get over his fear of leash walking, but it will still take a while before Rusty will feel comfortable on a leash. A home with a fenced yard will be necessary for Rusty, since he does not yet do well on a leash… we want to be sure he will be safe.

Prior to coming into Rescue, Rusty was trained to pee pads, but he has never had any ‘accidents’ inside at his new foster home.. he has been perfectly housetrained. Rusty also has never offered to ‘mark’ indoors, which is very unusual for a male dog who was not neutered. Rusty sleeps in a crate in his foster home, and seems to enjoy it, never complaining.

A home and family where Rusty has human companionship much of the day would make this little boy very happy. He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home, and is doing his best to try to get some of them to play with him, but they are older and not interested in playing with a young boy.

Rusty has been neutered, microchipped, and is current on his Rabies, DHP/Parvo, and Bordetella vaccines. He tested negative for Heartworms and is on Heartworm and flea prevention.

Rusty’s adoption fee is $275.00.

Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a 3-week trial period with all our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adoptive family. The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have the perfect “forever” home!

If you are interested in Rusty, and think he may be your ideal canine companion, please visit our website at for information on our adoption process. Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, but we never ‘ship’ or ‘transport’ our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.
